Think Bengal and Modernity, early 20th-century art in India, and Benode Behari Mukherjee, one of the pioneers of Constructivist Modernsim comes to mind. At the Vadehra Art Gallery in Delhi, the new year will be welcomed with this flashback that consists of dulcet moorings and meanderings of rustic rhythms. Consequently, Mukherjee's oeuvre merges the tradition of the Bengal School and the Santiniketan ethos, with a thirst for cultivating a distinct style. He was known as one of the finest pedagogues, unique for his passion and love for disseminating art education and teaching art history, long after he lost his eyesight.
