In this month's art shows, banned books take on a new lease of life as works of art; a photographer's oeuvre captures the story of a new sovereign nation; cinema stunt choreography inspires a conversation on our everyday fictions. The art calendar for March sees complex ideas deftly brought to life with colour, sensitivity and nuance. Here are some of this month’s most exciting art shows:
“Stomach Studio” by N. S. Harsha at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi
N. S. Harsha considers the relationship between the individual and the cosmos, and how our everyday human activities can be evocative of a more universal experience. “Most of the characters are from my observation of everyday life,” he says. “Some imaginary characters intuitively flow into a painting… if the painting is becoming too meaningful, I bring in an absurd element so that it regains its ambiguity.”
On view at Vadehra Art Gallery, Defence Colony, New Delhi, from 2nd March to 2nd May 2022
