Art lovers in the city on Sunday got a chance to interact with renowned contemporary artist N S Harsha, who was in the city to take part in ‘Art Talk’ organised by the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF). During the session, the artist threw light on his life as an artist and his view of the world around him.
The ‘Art Talk’ series is being organised as a prelude to the second edition of the Kochi Muziris Biennale 2014.
Inaugurating the ‘Art Talk’ with Harsha, Dominic Presentation MLA said that the biennial event brings financial gains to the local and small businesses. “Therefore, the event is beneficial not only to the artists but also to the entire city. The government had this in mind when it decided to set aside `two crore for the mega art event,” he added.
Harsha is an internationally-renowned artist who has won many awards in a short span of time. In 2008, the Mysore-based artist was awarded prestigious Artes Mundi Prize, the biggest art prize in the United Kingdom. He received the Sanskriti award for emerging artists in 2003 and the Karnataka State Lalit Kala Academy scholarship in 1993. The artist received his MFA from the Faculty of Fine Arts, MS University.
